Management team overview
Brian created Inspire in 2005 with the goal of accelerating medical progress through engaged patients and caregivers in safe, trusted online social networks. Brian is a frequent speaker and writer on the topics of health-focused social networks and digital health. He sits on the boards of the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins, and New Jersey Goals of Care, and was a “Red Jacket” recipient from PharmaVOICE magazine for his contributions to the industry.
VP, Business Development
Adam has over 20 years experience in the healthcare space, including 8 years as an outpatient physical therapist, and the last 12+ supporting pharmaceutical marketing and market research functions with such companies as Protocol Publications, ListenLogic Health and Verilogue. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, and master’s degree from Temple University. Adam has a keen interest in connecting patients with cancer and rare diseases in the social realm, fueled by simultaneous rare cancer diagnoses in 2007 for both his wife and mother-in-law. Adam lives outside Philadelphia, PA with his wife and three children.
Vice President, User Experience and Data Science
Since 1997 Erik has been involved in the field of internet technology, working for such diverse institutions as Guest Services, The American Institute of Physics, The Washington Post, Dante Consulting, and Shepherd University. While Chief Architect at The Washington Post, Erik was responsible for modernizing the feed that brought data from the newspaper to the website, and created the design of the taxonomic structure that allowed related content to be delivered to the user. He is keenly interested in delivering new and unique products to members, exploring user data to determine behavior patterns, and using machine learning to delve deep into user generated content to discover insights that have value for those in the medical industry, as well as related fields.
Mike comes to Inspire with over 25 years of accounting and finance experience ranging from high growth technology start-ups to multi-industry companies with over $1B+ in annual revenues. He has served as the senior financial executive for publicly traded, private and venture backed software and technology entities. Most recently he was the VP of Finance for EngagePoint, a $100M systems integrator implementing Healthcare Information Exchanges for State governments. Other industry experience includes healthcare related business intelligence and big data analytics, e-learning, SharePoint collaboration software and geospatial software and services. At Overwatch Systems he facilitated a successful roll up strategy and sale to Textron, Inc. Mike started his career with Deloitte & Touch, is a CPA and a graduate of University of Colorado.
Chief Technology Officer
Peter brings decades of experience in designing, developing and managing information technology systems and managing teams that do these things. With wide ranging perspectives including business ownership, embedded systems development, systems administration, systems security analysis, Internet development and full lifecycle management of complex systems, Peter has the perspective to guide the technical development at Inspire. Peter joined Inspire near the beginning, in 2007, and has been instrumental in helping the company grow and solidify its position as the leading health-centric social network. As a result of this tenure, Peter is in a unique position to understand how and why our systems work the way they do, and to shape Inspire’s technological basis as the company moves forward.
Vice President of Engineering
Since joining Inspire in 2013, Anthony has focused on modernizing Inspire’s systems, allowing Inspire to focus on making a great site for its members and clients. Anthony has decades of experience personally solving problems using computers, and leading teams to do the same. From building the system which put color on the front page of The Washington Post, to leading the group of system administrators for streaming music at AOL, to building a job site for startups, to migrating Inspire’s legacy infrastructure to cloud computing, Anthony has the experience to lead the growth of Inspire. He has a bachelor’s degree in science and technology studies from Virginia Tech.
Richard is a marketing strategist and digital technologist with specialization in the life sciences, biotech/ biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries. He has over 10 years of experience in marketing strategy, analysis, product development and management. As the Vice President of Marketing, Richard is responsible for developing the brand and accelerating the growth for Inspire as the leading social network for health. Prior to Inspire, Richard held various commercial roles in the life sciences, and most recently was the Area Director of Marketing at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he focused on the development and execution of their marketing and digital strategy.
Jeff brings over 10 years of experience designing, creating and managing the lifecycle of products supporting the healthcare industry. He has a specialization in data-oriented products and solving complex security challenges that accompany use of protected health information (PHI). At Inspire, Jeff is responsible for both developing the pipeline of existing and future commercial products and developing Inspire’s online community to ensure growth, retention, and engagement. Prior to Inspire, Jeff worked for a leading healthcare consulting firm where he conceptualized and launched successful data products for providers.
Director, Client Services
Hillary is a digital advertising professional who has experience with diverse client bases; ranging from healthcare, CPG, QSR, automotive, and more. She manages the Client Services team at Inspire which is responsible for all client work including client email campaigns and banner advertisements. Constantly staying on top of the latest digital ad trends, Hillary is always looking for the latest technology that could be utilized for Inspire. She was most recently at MRM/McCann, the digital production AOR for General Motors. Her project and client management skills were utilized for GM’s websites, online advertising, and email blasts. Other experience includes ad operations, creative briefing, project management, analytics/reporting, user acceptance testing and QA.
